Use Orange County Your Voter Information for the most detailed local self-service route. Enter a full birth date and the last four digits of a California driver license or ID. If no state ID is available, the form accepts the last four Social Security digits and may ask for the first three letters of the voter's first name. A reCAPTCHA check helps keep the lookup from becoming an open voter directory.

California Voter Lookup Choices
The statewide My Voter Status service provides another self-check channel. It can confirm voter registration status, political party preference, language preference, vote-by-mail status, and provisional ballot status. Use it when a statewide record check is more useful than Orange County's election-specific options.
Neither tool replaces the Registrar of Voters. A person who cannot pass the automated check can contact the Orange County office and resolve the record through official channels. Laguna Beach Voter Rolls Are Restricted
A common myth is that voter registration becomes an ordinary public directory. The California Secretary of State says voter-registration information is not public data. Elections Code section 2194 permits access only for specified election, scholarly, journalistic, political, or governmental purposes and for other approved categories stated on the application.
Self-lookup and file access must not be confused. A voter may securely check a personal record. A qualified requester must instead identify an organization, explain the use, describe security, provide identification, sign the agreement, and pay the required charge. Curiosity about a neighbor does not meet that standard.
Confidential by law. Elections Code section 2194 excludes driver-license or ID numbers, Social Security digits, unique identifiers, signatures, protected voters, and minor pre-registrants from released voter data.

An approved file can be much broader than the self-check result, yet the release still omits protected fields. The state layout may carry identity, address, registration, precinct, party, language, and status data. Orange County can also supply district labels and optional election participation history.

Participation history says that a ballot was cast or counted in an election. It never reports how anyone voted. That line is vital when reading voter records or explaining them to another person.
Read Laguna Beach Voter Status Fields
Approved state and county layouts distinguish registration dates from status. Current and original registration dates can differ, and a last-update date may show when the file changed. Status code and status reason give context, while a duplicate-ID flag helps the custodian manage records. The statewide request form separately asks whether inactive voter records should be included.
Those fields should be read together. An old registration date does not prove that every address or contact field remains current, and a history row does not reveal a ballot choice. Use the extract date to identify the file's snapshot, then confirm the relevant status through the elections office when a lawful project requires current data.
Request California Voter Registration Data
The Secretary of State file-request channel serves qualified applicants. Its form asks for the applicant and beneficiary organization, qualification category, approved purpose, security plan, location requested, optional history and inactive records, delivery choice, identification, initials, and a wet signature. Email and fax submissions are not accepted.

A broad file can include voter data, voting history, and precinct-to-district information when selected. The agency evaluates the purpose before release. Payment does not create eligibility. The form also permits a request for up to ten specific records, but each requested voter must be identified with available details such as name, date of birth, county, and residence address.
For a full extract, the applicant selects the requested geography and whether inactive records, voting history, or precinct-to-district data are needed. Shipping or pickup must be chosen. The signed agreement, initials, identification copy, purpose explanation, and security plan belong in the submission package. Missing proof can delay review even when the proposed use falls within an approved category.
Order Orange County Voter Records
Local orders go through the Orange County Registrar of Voters at 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana. Qualified individuals and organizations may visit or mail the original application. Mail requests need a photocopy of a driver license or other official photo ID. The office requires payment before processing and rejects emailed or faxed forms.
Standard voter data by area or district costs $37; a special request costs $80. Street indexes cost $1.50 per 1,000 voters, a certified voter-registration copy costs $1.50, and archive or file research costs $5. GIS data has no charge. The exact order matters because a district file, street index, certified record, and custom extract are different products.

Laguna Beach Registration Count
Orange County Data Central provides current election reports rather than personal ballot choices. The report printed July 13, 2026 listed Laguna Beach district 544-0 with 17,988 registered voters: 7,561 Democratic, 5,059 Republican, 998 American Independent, 99 Green, 249 Libertarian, 57 Peace and Freedom, 3,910 no party preference, and 55 miscellaneous.
Registration totals change daily, so the print date belongs with every citation. These figures describe the electorate as a group. They do not unlock any resident's confidential voter registration fields.

Protected Laguna Beach Voter Records
California's Safe at Home program supplies a substitute mailing address as one part of a safety plan for eligible survivors and victims. State and local agencies must accept that designated address. Eligible participants may also qualify for confidential voter status.
Protected voters under Elections Code sections 2166, 2166.5, 2166.7, and 2166.8 are not provided in voter files. Pre-registrants who are 16 or 17 are also withheld until registration takes effect at 18. These exclusions apply even when the requester otherwise qualifies.
Trace Historic Laguna Beach Voters
Current voter rolls are poor tools for local history. Older research should move to the California State Archives, the Orange County Archives, and the Laguna Beach Library. State Archives collection descriptions include Great Registers as well as county and city records, although Orange County-specific holdings need catalog confirmation before a trip.
In Laguna Beach, in-branch newspapers can supply election notices, civic club names, candidate activity, addresses, and community mentions. They are context sources, not substitutes for an authenticated register. Ask the archive or library about the exact year and jurisdiction, since historical poll books and registration lists may be arranged by precinct rather than by a modern city search.
Use Laguna Beach Voter Data Lawfully
State and Orange County agreements bar commercial use, advertising, marketing, unapproved transfer, harassment of a voter or household, and unsecured public posting. Elections Code section 18109 makes unauthorized acquisition or use of voter-registration information a misdemeanor. The restriction follows the data after delivery.
